2024 fixtures

Captain: Ben Hartridge

Vice Captain: Joe Rahman

Under the stewardship of new skipper Ben, 2024 was a more than decent season, in which we won 19 out of 27 games, and lost five. It was a season where our bowling stood out more than our batting. Of note here is the volume of wickets taken across the generations, including significant returns for Generation Z (Ted Davey, Otto), Millennials (Joe, Ankit), Generation X (DP, Riaz) and, finally, Baby Boomer Mario Picceri. Runs, however, were a bit harder to come by, with none of our batters managing to reach a century. Only run-machine Ben (532) and reliable Ankit (361) truly weighed in with a heavy bevy of runs.

Highlights
Strongroom officially reached middle age in 2024, and we staged our 40th anniversary game at Highgate Wood in August, with rare VIP appearances from Richard Boote, Andy Orme and Mark Mellor. Overall, the number of completed games throughout the season was high, with only six fixtures cancelled in total. Two successful missions to the west country were completed, and Hong Kong favourite Ujjal Roy made the long awaited return for the South Devon tour. The Friday evening T20 tri-series against Paddington Rabbits at the Paddington Rec ground proved a hit at the end of the week, and wins were achieved against longtime adversaries Gardeners and Jesmond Jaguars.

Lowlights
Two absolute hammerings at the hands of local rivals Pacific were something of a collective shock to the system, and a batting prolapse against London Itinerants came out of the blue. Yet again we struggled against Gaieties, and lost to a strong Elite team for the first time. These things happen, but overall, it was a very enjoyable season.
