Thanks for a good game on Saturday. Once again JR outshone with bat and ball -warning Stuart Broad. It was a knock of a batsman in supreme form picking gaps at ease. Reminding of 90 's batsmen nonchalantly working the bowlers on dusty sub continent tracks. Unfortunately was runout in the last ball for the team's cause. His rumblings were sportingly received by Mohmed Godi. Yet he has long way to match Rich Woolhouse's DOUBLE STAMP at Lustleigh.
Alarmingly Grant's bats are getting heavier and bigger, he has been recently diagnosed with a condition called '' Bat-mania''. We are still awaiting calrifications from the medical world!!!
We had four members fasting on warm day playing quality cricket, which is a feat in itself! Special mention to Mo Godi's classy knock, which swung back the momentum toward Strongroom's late assault on the scoreboard. This was the perfect anti-dote for sunseekers on the ropes who were bored to sleep with snail paced batting by Strongroom's top order.
Ibrahim ran riots through the Peco's top order from the''Pavillion-Shed''. It was one of the best spell of pace bowling witnessed at The Highgate- The Strongroom CC Fortress.
Harry was usefull in the middle with his lenghty spell of Umpiring refusing the repeated calls form the ''Pavillion-Shed'' to be replaced. He is planning to retire soon to take up umpiring as a career!!!
As much action unfolded during the Godi-Rahman run fest, the real hightlight of the day was off the pitch at the SHED!!! Where the Strongroom Stalwartls, The Gower Brothers, GLEEFULLY took control with some flambuoyant and nosie making scoring. Where the leg umpire was distracted many a times with the score board mechnism ratcheting even before Godi's piercing drives had reached the fence.
As usual the Muswell Bakery tea was a treat laced with plenty of olives. Thanks to Jon and Vinay for the logistics.
A staunch resistance was provided by the PACO tailenders thanks to DG's genorosity of giving a certain off spinner a chance to bowl. Also credit to Peco's No 8 bat who according to DG employed a certain 'METHOD' to score a fighting fifty.
The weather was brilliant the opponents played fair and a lovely day of cricket played. It was rounded off with some good banter and loud laughing at the Woodman. Once again The Gower Brothers TOOK CONTROL by tucking in some gourmet burghers garnished with fancy veg. Flamboyant Joe, who wore a Handball top according to DG once agian outshone with his choice of fancy Belgian Beer!
