2019 fixtures
Captain: David Proctor
Stand-in captains: [appointed as required]
T20 Captain: Grant Dixon
We won 10 and lost 3, so it was yet another good season overall. Somewhat bizarrely, in another climate-change-fuelled, scorching summer, we lost 11 games to rain. On several occasions a hot, dry working week ended with tropical downpours by the weekend. Four additional games were cancelled due to our lack of players, but otherwise recruitment and turning out full teams every week was good, thanks to a combination of old and new faces.
Highlights:
The batting and bowling of the man that is Mohmed Godhi; the batting of Gwyn Jones; an absurd win over London Fields at Hackney Marshes, thanks to a big ton from Nisar; the return of Mitch for one game; the second-best bowling figures (7-23) for Strongroom by Ben Hartridge (Grant Dixon's 7-19 against the toddlers and octogenarians of Lustleigh is safe for now); the game against Mayfield; Hem, Guy and Joe making the Devon tour; the defeat of Jesmond Jaguars in a two-innings match at Southgate, and defeating Pacific at Wray Crescent; Riaz's 6-fer against Bloomsbury Royals; David Gower's first ever five-wicket haul, in his 50th year; some tremendous chicken biryani teas provided by Fayaz; Andy Orme playing two games.
Lowlights::
The weather; losing to Queensbury at Wembley, after having them 0-4 in the first innings; batting at Highgate Wood (140 now seems to be a par total); a strong batting line-up being blown away by Bloomsbury Royals opening bowlers.
